What role do Thermophiles play in their environment?
Thermophiles play a crucial role in the environments that they inhabit. In Hydrothermal vents which are not reached by sunlight there are entire ecosystems that can exist there because thermophiles can harness the nutrient rich matter that is produced by the vents. The thermophiles through chemosynthesis fulfill the role of base of the food chain. This enables there to be life in locations that sunlight cannot reach and also produces unique and diverse creatures that are able to inhabit these areas because of thermophiles.
